Este artículo indaga en los modos en que las voces son descritas, nombradas y juzgadas. Se indaga en vocabularios específicos asociados a “géneros musicales” populares (como la cantautoría, la cumbia, el rock, la cueca, y otros) pero también el campo de la caracterización de la persona vocal, que trasciende los géneros y se atribuye a quien vocaliza. Interesa identificar descriptores usuales en el periodismo musical y estimar sus diálogos con la terminología académica, sopesar sus cruces y sus mutuos desafíos. Las fuentes principales estudiadas corresponden a revistas especializadas (La Bicicleta, Rock&Pop y Rockaxis), las que se examinan desde una perspectiva que considera la configuración colectiva de los significados atribuidos a la voz.
Popular singing vocabularies
AbtractThis article explores the ways in which voices are described, named and judged. It explores specific vocabularies associated with popular “musical genres” (such as singing-songwriting, cumbia, rock, cueca, and others) but also the field of the characterization of the vocal persona, which transcends genres and is attributed to the one who vocalizes. It is interesting to identify usual descriptors in music journalism and to estimate their dialogues with academic terminology, to weigh their crossings and their mutual challenges. The main sources studied correspond to specialized magazines (La Bicicleta, Rock&Pop and Rockaxis), which are examined from a perspective that considers the collective configuration of the meanings attributed to the voice
